From Knowledge to Action: Environmental Education for Future Generations

Purpose of the Conference
Universities are centers of education, research and innovation, where knowledge and qualifications are formed, scientific studies are conducted and projects of various types are developed. Universities work to solve the challenges, which sustainable development faces; exert a significant influence on social processes; motivate young people to actively participate in achieving sustainable development goals.
The exchange of ideas between university, college and school teachers, young scientists, postgraduates and students of Russian and foreign universities contributes to the resolution of international problems and helps create a basis for sustainable development. In turn, the youth’s fresh perspective, energy and passion for change make them key participants in this process.
The Summit is a discussion platform on environmental education for sustainable development created for a constructive dialogue between representatives of international organizations, government and financial structures; university, college and school teachers; young scientists, postgraduates and students of Russian and foreign universities. It is aimed at discussing initiatives and exchanging best practices on environmental education for sustainable development; search for options to achieve sustainable development goals with the involvement of young people’s potential.
The Summit will result in new ideas and joint initiatives aimed at the sustainable development goals implementation, formation of the participants’ eco-friendly culture, and promotion of ecological culture activities through environmental education in the interests of sustainable development with the participation of foreign partners.
The business part of the Summit will be held on May 30, 2025 at BUCEL (Belgorod Region, Belgorod). It will include a Conference part, where leading experts and young scientists competent in environmental education for sustainable development issues will present their reports in a mixed format. The event also includes TED lectures and master classes; discussions aimed at mastering interdisciplinary concepts by students for the formation and development of their environmental thinking and the ability to apply it in cognitive, communicative, social practice and professional activities.
On May 31, 2025, the Exhibition part of the International Meta-Subject Summit on Environmental Education for Sustainable Development will be held at the production cooperative “Stary Oskol Pottery Crafts Artel” (Belgorod Region, Stary Oskol). It will include presentation zones of eco-products developed by BUCEL’s scientists and students; ecotourism events in the form of interactive platforms where participants will be able to take part in master classes using recycled materials. These actions will contribute to the formation of partakers’ environmental culture through fine arts and crafts.
